There are few disease settings in which one drug or drug combination has shown clear superiority above all others for all patients.  In fact, the clinical experience has shown that some drugs work for some patients and not for others.  It is also well-known that some patients respond to second or third line drugs following unsuccessful treatment with other regimens.  In the CytoRx^TM Profile, each patient’s viable tumor cells are exposed to 20 to 30 standard chemotherapy drugs and drug combinations in three separate, cell death-based assay systems.  In clinical studies, drugs that were active in vitro were 7 times more likely to benefit patients who received them than were drugs that were inactive in vitro.
